Question Winch install

Just installed my Smittybilt XRC-10 winch. And was wondering if anyone had put a fuse or relay on to protect it?

I didn't fuse mine, but I did put wire loom on the positive cable. Just in hopes it will not short. I don't think you really need a fuse there.

I got it at wal mart. If it keeps a rat or something from chewing the wire. It might be worth it. It doesn't hurt to have it.
