Winch Switch
I just used the regular WARN remote switch and put it through the firewall. It sits in my glove box coiled up. When I need to use the winch I just connect the end to the winch and control it while in the drive seat. Easy, cheap solution and considering how much I utilize the winch it works just fine for me.
I used a battery isolator with a dash mounted switch. Just hit the switch to send power to the winch. It also has a built in relay that will automatically cut power to your winch if your battery drops below 200 amps.
FYI, some bigger winches, like the warn 9000 can draw up to 600A under full load. You might be in for a suprise when you are stuck and trying to winch out when your winch cuts out.....You should find out what the spec is for your winch....

Cleared it with the tech guy at super winch, He said it should work fine. The max amperage spike of the Superwinch Epi9.0 is 400 amps. the draw under max load is 350 amps. The relay cuts power to the winch only if your battery output drops below 200 amps. allowing you to restart the vehicle if you are forced to winch without the engine running. the relay itself will carry over 600 amps. I also have a 400 amp fuse in line between the relay and the battery in the event of a dead short. I know it seems like overkill but I've read horror stories about guys burning up their rigs due to a dead short. I've done a couple of test pulls and it seems to work fine. I figure, worst case scenario, if the set up fails I can always jump straight to the battery to get it going again. I should have mentioned I wasn't using a Warn, it might be a different story drawing higher amperages.

ptcomp you mention a dash mounted push switch. can you give me some insite, so I know what I/m looking for. i read a post a while back about the solenoid locking or freezing up causing a fire. I want to avoide this as my solenoid is mounted next to my battery.
