I have a quadratec q9000 winch which draws 300 amps. It was supplied with 5' 4ga wire. I need to extend the wiring to one 8' for my ground and three 6' wires to mount the solenoid under the hood. The 5' 4ga positive solenoid to battery wire will be retained. Should I stick with 4ga for the new wires or do I need to bump up to 2ga? Maybe 2ga for the 8' negative then 4ga for the other 6' wires since they're only 1' longer than the provided 4ga? Thanks.

If in doubt go up one size. You won't go wrong with 2 gauge wire for power and ground. You should have some sort of switch in line or a quick disconnect.
