Default Window Light Brackets -Mod?

Hey all. I was reading through some posts and noticed folks were grousing bout the "metal on metal" issue with mounting window light brackets. Here is a $6 mod:

-Go to Lowes or Home Depot
-Ask for shower or tub liner. $5.64 a liner foot

-lay the bracket flat on the liner and trace with a sharpie
-cut about 1/8" inside your line (except for the two holes)
-VOILLA! Custom buffers.

BTW... As far as I know this liner won't leave residue or discoloration. Anyway, even if it does it's better than scratched paint and/or rust. Hope this helps someone???

Awesome! I have run out, but I used to have a lot of the rubber liner they put on large flat roofs! That stuff was an awesome gasket.

I used a bicycle tire tube to accomplish the same thing...worked great. Just another idea to throw out there.
