Default Windshield wiper problems...

I took my Wrangler to the dealership yesterday to fix a problem with my windshield wipers. The wipers wouldn't go through a full swing unless I held the switch down. Merely tapping it would cause the wipers to start, then almost immediately stop. The intermittent wiper stopped working completely; the wipers would run full speed regardless of the switch position, sometimes not stopping until several seconds after I'd already turned them off.

The dealership said the problem was with the multifunction switch, claimed to have replaced it, and considered the issue resolved. As soon as I grabbed my keys and hopped in, I tapped the switch and it did the exact same thing again. I'm not sure if they didn't bother testing the new switch or if it just happened to work once or twice when they first installed it, but they've already had my Jeep for a night and I can't leave it there again until sometime next week.

I'm curious if anyone else has an idea what the problem might be. Could there be an issue somewhere else or is my dealership simply incompetent? All the other dash components, switches, and lights work just fine. However, I have noticed lately than when I get out of my Jeep after driving it, I tend to zap myself when I touch the door to close it.

Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

For something like that, I would check the wiper motor/arm assembly.
There are contacts that tell the motor when it's at home position.

I took mine to the dealership today. They put a new motor on but it was still getting some voltage problems. They replaced what he called a power control module and it fixed the problem. hope this helps.

I merged the 3 threads you replied on about this - please have a moderator merge like threads rather than individually reply to them in the future. Thanks!

I fixed mine tonight. Write-up here:

It turned out to be grease from the worm gear contaminating the fingers which allow the ECM to find wiper home. Only took about 45 minutes to fix taking my time.
