Wiring old set of Hella 500's
So I have a set of Hella 500's driving lights that I have had from my toys of long ago. They are in great shape, but I don't know how long they will last. I am going to wire them up, but want to wire them up so I can just change out lights when I upgrade to new ones when these die.
With that said, What should I use for a relay and switch now to make an easy switch later to new lights? Do they make factory switches to go down where my 4 way flasher switch is or do I just put a switch somewhere else?

I bought a new toggle switch as the one that came in the box didn't work.
I would imagine if you bought new lights later on you might be able to use some or all the wiring you do, if not the'll come with new components anyway.
Best advice I got was to install the lights using the M9/M8 pin inside the fuse box instead of the highbeams by using a fusetap.
Good luck!
Wether or not you use the high beams or a hot fuse tap you can use a switch to control the ground wire for the relay. The relay will be provided hot from whatever source you choose and the switch controls the relay by providing the ground connection only when it is on.
You can use your standard 12v, 30/40 Amp automotive relay from Autozone or Pep Boys, etc, and you standard toggle swithc of your choice. Daystar makes some rocker switches that are cool looking and match alot of the rocker switches that come with accessories if you like uniformity. Then just wire them up through your relay (I'm assuming you know how to wire a relay) and run to your switch to turn the relay on and off. If you happen to use a switch that does not illuminate let me know and I will show you how to put a 12v LED with it to some on them your lights are on. Let me know if you need help. Tony
If you install a 30 amp circuit ( 30 amp relay, wireing and fuse ) then you will be able to up-grade up to 360 watts of light later on. Basicaly that would be 2 - 150watt lights.

I just did that also bro. My circuit is a 30Amp circuit. Had 55 W Fogs on, traded them out for 100W KC. Took 10 minutes to switch, unplugged old, plugged in new..Done..let there be light..lol
