Default Yes another HID lighting thread....

Hello all. I am dead set on doing the HID swap.

I DID use the search function but I didn't find EXACTLY what I was looking for.

It sounds as if the DDM Tuning Kit is popular and that the "Error Eliminator" Kit makes it a plug and play operation. (Please correct me if I'm wrong).

I was contemplating a 6000k bulb. Will this be close to a stock Mercedes HID look?

As I'm in Canada, the daytime running lights are enabled on my JK. Will I have to disable them? (Upping the price as I'll have to buy a programmer like AEV or Superchips)

I am competent with vehicle electronics and I could build my own relay/diode/capacitor boxes if I had to. I'd just really prefer a plug and play setup.

Please chime in with your experience on HID installs on a JK.

Have you tried contacting the Manufacturer of those lights to get their recomendations? Just a thought. I am interested too.

If you want to DIY eliminators, go for it. The ones you purchase will be cleaner, waterproof and easier. In order to install them you will need headlight connectors. Two of them. One male and one female because it connects inline. Buying is easier and cleaner.

Why would you have to disable the DRLs? The headlights will just be On. The HIDs would probablyu last longer than regular bulbs since there is no filament.

The 6000K might look kind of blue. Contact DDM and ask their opinion of the colors. They will be honest with you. Just be prepared to tell them what you want. Slight yellow, White, Blazing White, Hint of Blue, Blue Tint, BLUE, Purple, etc

I don't think the fogs require Error Eliminators.

I got the error eliminators from DDM and never needed them. No flickering.

Daytime running lights utilize 80% power on the high beam setting. I though the under voltage might create problems.

You can't use the day time running function. I have an AEV device that allowed me to use the fog lights as my day time running lights. I also put LEDs in the fogs as well so they are not as bright and the use next to no power.
