Default 2010 JK Weekend Warrior

This build is for those who want to wheel as hard as possible, but only have a 2 car garage. This JK will be my daily driver to work in the Texas Panhandle (75 mph HWY speeds, 30 mph sustained winds in Spring) and my NM/CO bike/ski/wheeling trip chariot. I know there will be some mistakes along the way, but we have a solid Jeep community here with lots of experience (mistakes) to guide me. Any help from the forum, with quantifiable backup (I don't care about problems with customer service), is much appreciated.

Default 1st Major Purchase

Finally able to purchase the lift, shocks, spacers, chip, and floor mats.

Lift - RKJK35XF - 3.5" Rock Krawler X Factor Lift Kit - $1,899 @RubiTrux ($0.99 cheaper than any other website!)
Shocks - BIL-5100JK2535 - Bilstein 5100 Series 2.5" - 3.5" Lift - $288 set of 4 ($100 off with RK purchase @RubiTrux)
Spacers - J100749 - RedRock 4x4 1.5 in. Spacers - $107 for 2 pair @Extreme Terrain
Computer - AEV-30406007AG - AEV ProCal Module 30406007AG Pro Cal - $159@RubiTrux
Floor Mats - J101665 - All Weather Floor Mat Set w/One-Piece Rear Mat - Black (87-15 Wrangler YJ, TJ, & JK) - $35@Extreme Terrain

Plan on sticking with the stock rims. Pondered going to 15s, but additional rubber required to get to 35" tires would be even more difficult to balance at highway speeds.

Will post stock pics soon.

Wife and I went to Blue West for a quick ride, may be the last time the Jeep hits the trail without the upgrades.

Had the first parts casualty today. Lost the license plate going over a rock into a sturdy bush, did not realize it happened until I took the photo from the front. Thought I heard a metallic clank on the trail and went back to that location, license plate and LaTech cover found.

Default Parts Arrival

Spacers and programmer arrived.

Made quick use of the programmer by inputting an accurate tire OD. Used level and tape for measurement, only need to be +/- 1/8" for program (input in 1/4" measurements.)

The Jeep seemed to ride smoother, but I know it was all in my head. For a manual in normal driving conditions the computer should only adjust speedometer or so it says.

Lift and shocks are lost somewhere between RubiTrux and UPS, hopefully they arrive in February. I plan to start putting this together in March.

Shocks came in today, looks like they fell off the truck. One came in uncompressed with boot damage. Not sure if the boot damage/uncompressed shipping will hurt, but I will try to get RubiTrux to send a new one.

Purchased and installed the RER Software and Maps update.

Note: Maps update says you can turn off the radio during the process. In my experience this is false, the file being copied will not make it through the verification process. I almost did not get the update to install properly due to this mishap. My radio was frozen and only after 5 on/offs did the update restart. After the restart the update failed, I restarted again and it was successful. After the "success" message it reverted to copying a file that did not verify properly.

Long story short, have a full tank of gas and leave the Jeep running during software updates.
