Default 2014 Copper JKU - Stock to Modified Phase I

So, I started with a stock 2014 Sport with a few niceties, but not really trail ready. We purchased our Jeep brand new, 40 miles (I guess a few folks drove it and decided to not buy, but we liked the color). Because Jeeps hold their value "reasonably well", we chose new. I looked at lots of used Rubi's, but they were scooped up quicker than I could get to the dealer. So, stock Sport it was.

Phase I plans:
> Keep suspension stock, but put big enough tires on to go most places
> Add the basic trail ready stuff, quick connects, leveling kit and CB Radio
> Flat Fenders - because I want to keep suspension stock and low-center-of-gravity for the for seeable future AND want to have large enough tires, flat fenders are in order.
> Stubby bumper

First, here it is stock with the infamous rake, plastic fenders and nice, but stock wheels.

I'll add posts with the various modifications as I can over the next few days as I tool lots of pictures for each project, plus future modifications as they happen.

Default Lookin good

Good looking jeep keep it up. What size tires/brand are you running? And what are those fender flares? They look sweet. I started out the same way put a leveling kit on mine. Taking it to Moab in April.

Black Beaver - These are 34" (305/75R17) Goodyear MTR Kevlars. My son has been running these on his TJ for 4 years with lots of hard 4 wheeling and DD with zero issues. They're tough tires. Pricey, but worth it. Fenders are MetalCloaks JK Overland System 4 Door.

Highly recommend both tires and fenders. Tires are a stiffer/rougher ride, but they are large luged mud tires.

I went 34"s over 35s for space and since axels are stock, didn't want to twist splines and have to replace shafts any time soon.

Hope this helps. ~Shane

Default Tires

I have been in a jeep with those tires on them. They are pretty noisy on the road, but are great off road. I'm really liking those fenders, I just might save up and buy a set. Thanks for the info.

Thats a good lookin jeep. I initially wanted the copperhead, but found a great deal on a new black jku. Keep us updated on the build.

These specific wheels are made by Level 8 Motorsports called Level 8 Punch and can be purchased at Discount. I actually found these on CL for a lot less.
