A long time comin - 2012 JKU Rubicon
So I scored a premium ARB bumper with ambers for $300 bucks, has a scuff on the paint where the previous owners fender rubbed so I think I did pretty good. First up got that mounted, and soon after I scored a set of real clean flares to complete the look.
Next on the list is tires, gonna need them sooner than later, then gears and finally a winch. Rear bumper will happen somewhere along the way when I find a good deal (or build it depending on need/availability)

The previous owners hack job on the factory flares just didn't work for me, and with the ARB having those factory lines meet up just looks very clean in my opinion. This will be the look and function for some time until I either want to move to a different phase of the Jeep or some damage forces my hand.

Removed the wheel-spacers, little bit of a rub on full lock but nothing making the Jeep unusable. I wanted to run without the spacers for a bit before I make a final decision on new tires. At this point, I believe I'll be going with the new Kenda RT - https://automotive.kendatire.com/en-...oad/klever-rt/

It is definitely possible to cut factory flares to look at least somewhat decent. IDK why people do what your previous owner did, but that seems to be the most common course of action. Going back to uncut factory looks monumentally better, especially with your bargain of a deal bumper.

Can you add or send me a photo of the dash where you mounted the stereo. I have the basic uConnect on mine with no Bluetooth and need to upgrade so I can play my music from chip/USB/phone and take/make phone calls. I would like for the steering wheel buttons to still work after upgrading.

A photo isn't gonna help much, but the install is quite easy, remove the dash panel and some screws for the radio's mounting bracket then reverse the process with the dash kit and your replacement. You'll need a can-bus harness which is about 100 bucks on its own, a dash kit, antenna adapter, and whatever radio fits your needs. I put my entire install process and what equipment I used back in post #4.
New tires installed at a local shop

Had to go test em out so off to the closest offroad part with any kind of obstacles to climb

Heard some popping/grinding during some hill climbs and called it early that day, my suspicion if a front driveshaft issue was correct.

So we're 2wd for a couple of weeks until a replacement arrives (went with an Olivers 1310 kit - https://oliversdriveshaft.com/shop/j...r-non-rubicon/). I've heard folks drive on the stock shaft making noise for some time but in the end I don't need 4wd to get around and I'd rather not risk a catastrophic failure at highway speed taking out other components.
