Rear Swaybar Quick Disconnects
Has anyone put JKS's front sway bar disconnects on the rear? I have a 2017 JKU with a 1" leveling lift, and I accidentally bought the longer JKS disconnects for the front swaybar (JKS 2034). I reordered the shorter ones, and those are working fine on the front, but before i return the wrong long ones, why wouldn't I just put them on the back??? They would adjust to the right length back there, and it looks like there's clearance for the pins pointing outward (toward the wheels) for both the top and bottom connections points. I never hear about rear swaybar disconnects, though, so maybe there's some reason I don't know about not to do this. Thank you.
I believe you need longer ones on the front to avoid flipping the sway bar in unuual offroad positions. Your front bar should be horizontal or slightly uphill at rest on level ground. There is not much to gain from disconnecting the rear and you lose a little stability when traversing a slope.
Everything else aside, I don't think your rear tires will be too pleased with those big spikes the JKS quick disconnects attach to sticking out.
Other than likely clearance issues, most people just don't disconnect in the rear, as mentioned above, and would see no real benefit from doing so. The rear sway bar is much less rigid than the front and actually bends/twists a good bit allowing for articulation. If you disconnect in the rear you'd better make sure all lines (brake, ABS, locker connections) are all long enough otherwise you could be in for a rude awakening. Unless your build is set up to max out Metalcloak's CTI trailer, it's best to leave the rear connected.
