I try it at a stand still first. If it doesn't go in 4-lo right away, I put the tranny in drive, let off the brake and pull till it goes in.

i will do it from standstill too, appears not hearing any grinding means its ok!! guess its better than trying to follow the manual and hearing all sorts of grinding.

Standstill or sure! Then if it won't go roll up a bit then retry works almost all the time!

I attempt to do it on the fly if im driving on a trail with some people, but half the time I end up having to do it at stop because I cant get it to go. Being on a flat surface really helps too.

Mostly from a standstill, neutral, no brakes. Mines doesn't grind if I'm rolling as long as its in neutral.
