Is there any difference between just dropping in a high-flow filter into the stock intake vs replacing the whole intake?

I used a k&n drop in on my 2011. Improved pickup a bit. No noticeable improvement in mpg. Not sure about the 3.6L though.

I have a 13' JKU and dropped in the Volant CAI & noticed right away an improvement in acceleration being smoother & I noticed a 2 MPG improvement..!! Not to mention that it sounds awesome..! I go off roading & have ran some mud pits & water spots kinda hard & had water literally pouring over my hood & the Volants design has held up very good. No complaints at all. My buddy is using a Volant too & loves it..!!

Just curious...what made you decided on the cai vs. a snorkel? Since they cost about the same, just wondering because I'm torn between the two.

Hello,

New to JK ownership as I had a KJ before. Anyway , back on track. I've seen that Rugged Ridge has a modular snorkel available that installs through fender to corner of the cowl. It can run just above hood height or at the top of the windshield. Looks like it would provide cooler air with either setup and is priced near some of the CAI setups. Install looks to be a bit of work. Does anyone have experience with this product?
