Hi all! Finally getting a permit to take my Jeep on the beach here in Rhode Island. Have all the necessary equipment to pass the inspection. Interested in what others are using for portable tire inflators. Thanks in advance.

Would like to stick to around $100 tops. With limitations on which beaches I can go on and when, I’m not confident yet that I will be renewing the permit next year. We’ll see how it goes this year. However, I don’t want to be annoyed trying to refill my tires either.

 

This is one we have and carry, $140.00 we also had a Harbor Freight . Only does 1 tire at a time: The big time ones like ARB and Kraken are much more expensive, Faster Yes, do all 4 at a time sure. Given how many times we air down I don't need to Empty the pockets

all depends on size of tire and how low you are going. when it comes to air compressors it's all about duty cycle (how long it can run before it take a break to cool down). your pricey onboard air options like an arb twin compressor are 100% duty cycle, meaning they just run and run and run. you're just not going to have those be an option without dropping serious money. something like what jay posted above is what you're looking at. you can look at amazon too as viair is a reliable brand too. the more you pay the more air it's moving and usually the higher the duty cycle.

 

Viar is, indeed, a good brand. Have been using mine for a decade without any trouble. If you're not willing to spend more than $100, then you can't complain about how much time it takes to inflate the tires one by one. IMO - if you use a portable compressor be sure to have a suitable platform to set it on while you inflate your tires. A small piece of plywood works just fine. You don't want to set the compressor in the sand. If it falls over and ingests even a bit of sand, well, time for compressor #2!

 

I have the Vair 300. I think I paid about $130 - $140. Came with accessory kit and a bag. As for a platform, you can always open a door and sit it on the floor. I think it took me about 12 - 15 minutes to air up 4 35" tires from 18 to 36 lbs. 80 degree day and I didn't need to stop to cool. Time between tires was enough with switching the pump and setting exact pressure with a separate guage.
