I use a product called Spark and spray ALL electrical connections. Is repels water, non silicone based penetrating lube.

Works fantastic to protect electronics under the hood.

I clean engine bays when the engine is cold, don't get it on the air filter. Use an engine degreaser scrub it and spray it off. Use an air hose and blow the excess water off and your all set.

I just spray it with the hose wipe out the thick stuff and then detail it if I want to
