Default Do I need to get 33s

I am ordering a 2012 Rubicon next week and I have noticed as I read through these forums that 33 inch tires seem to be the most popular tire choice. I am wanting a 2 1/2 inch lift but I would like to know if there is a really big difference in the 32 inch tires on it and 33 inch tires. I am just curious about this because if there is I will wait until I have the money to get 33s to buy a lift. This is all very new to me and I am very excited to get this jeep but I want to take my time and do it right the first time.

Thanks

Tires very rarely run true to their size... a 33 is maybe only a 1/2-3/4(tops) bigger than a 32. Do your research on the tires, some sites/companies show the actually tire height.

Tirepackage.com shows the sizes as supposed to the sidewall size.

Remember too that you will probably be running your tires at a lesser PSI than suggested. That'll make them measure shorter as well. My 33s measured 34 before mounted. Mounted at 32 PSI they're just under 33. With a 2.5" lift I think I'd go straight to 35s. I only have 1.5 inches of lift so that's why I chose the 33s.

If I had to guess, I would say 90% of everyone that got 33s wish they would've gotten 35s or are planning on getting 35s. I know I do.

Or you could be on the fence like me and want 37's going from running 33's, haha

That doesn't make sense becasue the 32" tire would run small just like the 33", so the relative size difference should be 1"

My appologies for not being precise and to the milimeter on the height differences. It's a ball park figure, but the bottom line is - tires very rarely run true to size.

You have a Rubicon. Take it out and wheel it first, see what you think. I went with 33s on my 2dr X because I hated the stock tires and they looked too small with my leveling kit. I think that with 2"+ of lift, 35's would look better. I'm happy with my 33s (actual height mounted is 32.5") and dont plan on going bigger. Just my two cents...

You should look up the threads " show your 33's " or 35's. Most people will list the lift they are running and the specific tire to give you some ideas.
