is it bad practice to use a snatch strap folded in half? meaning can i loop it thru a hitch point on another vehicle and use BOTH loops hooked to my jeep?

The body of any strap is not tolerant of being looped around such a small radius as a hitch point. It's just not good for the fibers/weave.
Plus, set up as you describe, the snatch feature of the strap is altered.
Well, people do it and get away with it. But, you asked if it is "bad practice", and the answer is yes.

I'm not fully versed in the difference between tow straps and snatch straps, but I have used 3 20's straps before to make a 50' pull (with one strap doubled).

A tow strap will not have this characteristic and will most likely break something when the slack is taken up.
That is why they are different. You use s slow steady pull on a tow strap and a fast almost jerk like motion on a snatch strap that is why these things come with instructions read them, follow them for safe operation
So the answer seems to be avoid if possible do it if necessary.
Even if used correctly as intended all straps will wear out.
If you are the type that uses it a dozen times a weekend consider buying a new one every other month or sooner.
