Default Friendly reminder to check your bolts...

After the initial install, I never retourqed everything after driving for 1 - 2K miles.

Now, 1.5 years later, I've had a ton of stuff start to loosen up.

I first noticed my Rt front lower shock mount, only because it was squeaking. While I was down there, I noticed that all 4 were loose. I then noticed that my rear track bar was moving. I did not have the proper tools to get it tightened. (only one adjustable wrench and my sockets were not big enough) So, I had the dealer tighent that up during an oil change.

The dealer went on to discover that in addition to the track bar, the sway bar links were loose at all four corners!
So in total, shocks, sway bars and track bars were loose.

All that stuff loosened up over time so I did not notice just how crappy my suspension felt. Now, it feels like new.

Kind of embarassing, but I hope that I help someone else catch stuff like this before there is a serious failure.

Happy Jeeping.

Yup, always a good reminder to do the preventative/general maintainance on a Jeep, especially a lifted one. Things tend to loosen and wiggle for the beating they take, both on and offroad. It's part of the breaks of owning a Jeep. Timely maintenace of the suspension /driveline & related nuts/bolts etc.

Thanks for the reminder......I need to crawl under my JK while it's still warm out and re-tighten a few bolts & nuts especially with the wheeling I did over the summer as a few have started to loosen up and rattling.

No need to thank me. I'm just lucky something did not break on the highway. I wheel the pi$$ out of my Jeep, then do some heavy commuting throughout the month.

Hey "heisman", I'm originally from St. Louis too. Snowboarding took me out West. Last time I was back home, I had Imo's Pizza 5 times in 4 days. Nobody has heard of toasted ravioli and there is nothing like Lion's Choice out here.

I had BOTH lower front shock bolts completely fall off and the shocks just hung from the upper mounts. I have since replaced them but the ride home was like I was sitting in the ocean riding on waves.
