One Hummer owner told me that if he ever got stuck or broke down, all he had to do was call Hummer and they would come and pull him out or send a helicopter to air lift him out. For some reason he ended up calling me to pull him out. Guess the air lift wasn't working that day.

Before the JK, when I wheeled Rovers, the Land Rover dealership had a team of off roaders that they would call to come and help you out when you needed it. All you had to do was make one call to the dealership and they would find someone and send them out. I was on that call list. No one got paid for it, it was just a friendly thing they did for "customer support." Most of the time we ended up pulling people out of ditches on the side of the road after a snow storm.

On the other hand, I have a lot of friends with Jeeps, and they are always up to come and rescue you as long as they could get their Jeep a bit dirty in the process, and they would usually show up before the Land Rover dealership could figure out which rescue vehicle would stop and pick up the wine and cheese.

Here in Colorado, some of the local clubs volunteer during bad weather to drive first responders and doctors to work....Kind of a cool idea...K92 and I talked about joining up with them this winter, or starting a JK version.....

Where I live they make requests for 4x4 vehicles on the local radio stations during snowstorms and such (to transport doctors and nurses) I've never volunteered for that but I have pulled people out of ditches.

So what would the insurance companies say if we were using our personal vehicles for these type missions and they were damaged?

Back in high school the police department would pay me to drag stalled out cars with my TJ when the streets would flood after hurricanes. Good money to
