Default How to drain the diffs???

I've read a lot about people draining the diffs after "swimming", and since here almost all trails have river crossings (1 to 2 feet deep at least at the crossing), I'ms interested to know how to proceed.

How deep are the crossings, and how high are your breather tubes?

before I raised my breathers, there was always traces of water contamination in my diffs.. ever since I raised them it has been good........

Doing the diff service is quicker and easier than changing your oil. for a while I was doing it after every trail ride

Here is my first front diff oil change at around 4000 miles. Note that this is with 'no' water crossings. Not sure how the water got in, but maybe the high pressure car wash or something? Don't know...

Draining those diffs is quick, easy and cheap, and also let's you check for excessive shavings/sludge/foam/whatever.

Most crossings I do are about 1 to 2 feet deep... Mine is a stock 2dr, NO MODS (yet), so the breather tubes are as they came from the factory...

Stock, and the crossings are about 1 to 2 feet deep... Still a 2wk-old baby, mods coming soon... BUT, here in Puerto Rico, ALL trails have a looooot of mud, and bogs that are required to cross are at the very least, 1 ft deep, so this is a determining factor... SUGGESTIONS???

Yes. Unless you have a lifted Jeep...the holes on the stock covers are designed to let you fill the right amount when the Jeep is stitting level on the stock suspension. If you move the axle away from the frame, you change the angle that the diff is sitting at, meaning that the stock hole won't allow quite as much fluid to stay in the diff.
