Default M1101 trailer question

I am looking to build a camping trailer to pull behind my JKU. I like the M1101 looks, but is it to heavy for a base for this build?

Cant speak from experience but the general consensus is they are too heavy. A M1101 weighs somewhere around 1400 lbs. For comparison, a M416 is around 5-600 lbs dry. Can the JK pull it? Probably, but your going to know its back there. You could probably send it to fat camp and get it down closer to 1000 lbs, but you are still at twice the weight of a M416. Maybe someone on here can speak from experience though.

Lighter is definitely better.

Lighter may be "better", but you sacrifice space. With a 3.8l or a regeared 3.6l the M1101 is a great haul. Tracks perfectly, offers plenty of build space for an adventure trailer and is virtually indestructible.

I picked up a older m101a1 with tarp and bows cheap. If you find a M416 in good shape you will pay out the ying yang for it. Thay say you can swap a lot of stuff out and save about 4-500 pounds.

I just finished making one of these. And it pulls just fine. I'll see if I can get a video up on youtube.

Can you tell me what size that caper shell is that you installed on your M1101? What truck does it fit on and did you have to make any modifications to it? We have been using a M105a and just bought a M1101 to build as it's much lighter.
