Default New winch, got a question

All,

I just got my first winch, a superwinch EPi 9.0. Got it mounted to the jeep and wanted to make sure that I take care of it properly. How should I store the hook/line when not in use? Should there be tension on the line, how should it be hooked and what is the best option to hook it up to, a clevis or the clevis mount??? Forgive the newb questions, just don't want to tear anything up.

Thanks!

I keep mine engaged with some tension on the line, clipped on to the end of the D-Ring hook.

I have mine hooked onto the cross bar of my stinger with tension to keep it from bouncing around. Plus it looks sweet!
