off road problem
I just came back from 2 weeks of wheeling in Southern Colorado. I have a stock 4 dr Rubicon. I had the same warning pop up in the message center after shifting from 2wd to 4h. It had been in 4h for less than 5 minutes. Rather than being stuck somewhere on Hayden pass, we had it checked at a dealer in Salida. When I told them what happened, they looked at me like I was nuts! Then they looked for the answer in their online resource and ran the codes. It appears to have been in the last recall computer update on automatics concerning the transmission oil temp. sensor. They said no worries, just shut it off for 15 minutes to cool off. Freak conditions of heat, humidity, and no wind they said. Transmission cooler is best fix ($500+) they said. When I asked why a vehicle stock equipped to go off-road had no cooler, they shrugged. It was one of those "DUHHH" moments
. Even my 95 Rodeo had a transmission cooler! All ended well, I dragged that Jeep thru Hell and back for 4 hours that afternoon! No more warnings and Jeep covered with another thick layer of Colorado mud!!
Confidence restored. Only in a JEEP!
