Default Pushed my cluch in while submerged!

I was stuck recently and pushed in my clutch multiple times I know this is not good. I have not had any problems out of my clutch but is there anything I need to do to clean the muddy water out. I changed my differential fluid but what about my transmission? Is there anything I can do or is the damage done?

the same thing happened to me, how long has it been since it happened? the general feeling people gave me was that if u have not had problems within a week you probably escaped without any damage

That is good to know. It has been about two weeks now. I rock climbed pretty hard with it this past weekend w/o problems. Do you think I need to change my transmission oil now?

Yeah, that sounds about right. I drowned mine in a muddy waterhole and used the clutch several times shifting from 1st to reverse & back trying to rock her into motion. That was two years & around 35K miles ago & my clutch is still going strong and showing no signs of premature wear or component damage.

From what I've read here previously, people who do have problems tend to have them straight away or within a day or two anyway when the mud clogging the clutch and bell-housing dries out.

The JK is perfectly capable of playing in the mud and water, just know your limitations. I have had muddy water to the headlights in mine with no problems. Is it a good idea to push the clutch? No. Will it always cause sever damage? No. Would I replace a clutch that is not giving me problems on just the opinion of someone I have never met? NO WAY!!! There is absolutely no excuse to send the OP's mind racing, thinking he has ruined his clutch, and that he should immediately sink hundreds of dollars into his Jeep for a repair that is not necessary. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Youri, are you saying he should replace his clutch now? if so, that is not correct. If he is not having any issues with it, leave it alone. Change the oil if you see fit, but leave that clutch alone. I am sure he'll get years of use out of that clutch. The clutch is not going to fail over night, if it's going bad, he will notice a change in performance in it.

The fact he has wheeled it lately with no detrimental effects, says to me it's fine.

What's done is done. Don't worry too much about it. It happens all the time. You probably just shortened the life a bit. But so can driving it.

^^^ totally agree, don't touch that clutch if you have found no performance issues. I am sure there was very little to no damage to the clutch and the muddy water does not look to thick to be really concerned. Just stick a hose into the clutch housing and rinse it out. Also, I would not worry about the Tranny fluid you are not deep enough to go over the stock breather tube for the Tranny or Transfer Case in that hole, but you should consider extending your breather tubes (axles, tranny & transfer case) and next time you play in water and mud....4LO!!

End of wheeling season, that's when you can drain all the fluids unless contaminated.
