Default Safari vs hood snorkels? Which is better?

Which snorkel style is better? The safari, which seems to go through the side fender, or the other style that goes through the side of the hood? (2011 jeep) thx so much!

Neither is better per se - they both work well. It depends on how much effort you want to expend on the install. The AEV that goes out the side of the hood is easier.

There is a third option - River Raider's Expedition snorkel. It comes out of the cowl. Not an easy install, but it will not get damaged by rocks and trees.

Myself? I do not have one. I'm waiting to see what the new Rugged Ridge unit looks like in a couple months (also cowl mounted).
