Default Trail Width

Doing a lot of exploring. My area has a lot of gas well and logging road that are currently used by ATVs. How wide should a trail be before it is attempted.?

I guess it depends on how much of that free pin-striping you want.

A lease road (one going to a gas well) or a logging road should normally be wide enough for a good sized truck (think Peterbilt). Then let that road get overgrown for ten or twenty years...you still may be able to get a Jeep down it without too much trouble. Or not...it's hard to say for sure.

My guess would be that pinstriping will happen, but no major issues. Then again, it's just a guess.

Pinstripping is not a concern but this would be.

We took a bunch of jeeps down a quad trail once and the only issue we had even though it was a little snug was the low overhang where we had to get out and hold up the low limbs for the one behind to get under. At least there was only one spot where the limb was so big that this had to be done, the rest were small enough that you just drove under it and got a free scrubbing on the top.

If it fits you must attempt.
