When do you use lockers?
 

When do you want to use lockers?

Low speed (of course), generally for only times when you need it. Rock crawling, obstacles, tire lifting articulation, etc. I would assume in the mud as well, though I haven't messed with mine in the mud.

Overall they are a limited use part, but when you need it, it's extremely nice.

Ive never used them in 3 years! Oh wait, I don't have any....

Definitely if you're in mud. Lockers make all the difference if you end up in an off-camber situation when things are muddy. That sounds strange, but is not all that unusual given the size of the ruts sometimes left by full size pickups on 40's.

Lockers can make some of the most challenging obstacles seem simple. You don't ever want to make a tight turn and much of a turn at all when the lockers are engaged unless on a loose surface. Pick your line and follow it, only turning to grab onto your obstacle and manuver over/around it.

When you want both tires on the axle to get full available torque. When you have all 4 tires pulling at the same speed.....the term mountain goat comes to mind. Actually get off road and you'll find out quickly.:blush: You only have a 2 wheel drive....one on the front and one in the rear if you have open differentials.

This is an important question. I read a lot on this forum, and many members here always put rear True Loc "on" when they are wheeling. And they put the front True Loc only when there are big obctacles and deep mud. What do u think about that?

There have been times I've had to have the wheel at full lock, with all four locked in on the rocks. It's not fun, but you must stay out of the skinny pedal to keep things together. Finesse is key.

I tried to find a rubicon, the first of 2007....but to no avail....so I bought a sahara. No regrets though. You dont need lockers on 95% of the trails in Moab....but they do recommend them.
