Default When in Mud

Alright so when in a mud puddle I heard you want to spin you wheels correct when using MT threads right? How many rpms though is too much if you are in 4 LO and in first gear? Is it okay to go to second gear when trying to get out of a mudhole filled with water for more wheel spin?

You dot want to use 4 lo in mud. You want to keep a good momentum and a lil speed/ tire spin will help keep the tires
Lugs clearing. 4 hi is better for mud. Low is for the rocks and technical stuff. You don't want to use your clutch wile in a mud puddle. Better off power shifting. Rpm' s should not exceed red
Line or hit rev limiter. If you need that your either stuck or need to wheel with someone who can explain what you should and should not be doing. Finesse is key.

no 4Lo for mud? why is that... I figured it would send more power to the wheels in 4 Lo.

Would't too much wheel spin just get you buried? I guess I'll just have to go and try it out and see I'll let you know what happens tomorrow.

You really don't need power for mud unless it's a real thick dry mud if that makes since. It just depends on the mud, but usually without speed you will lose momentum and come to a stop and just sink. When that happens you can have all the power you want and not go anywhere. Momentum is key in mud.

I have used 4 low before in the mud and I was alright(or just Lucky), I think like others have stated as long as you keep your mometum going you should be fine.

Whats power shifting, and how do you do it? Are you talking about having the RPMS at the right level where you don't use the clutch?

Well one time I was stuck in a mudhole and I used 4Lo because I couldn't get out with 4H I just kept the rpms to 2500rpms to back out of it. I was wondering if there was a limit to rpms in 4lo since more power is being sent there so wouldn't 5000 rpms kill something in 4 LO?
