Anyone have any problems self recovering a 4 door with an 8,000 lbs winch?

I don't have a for door but an 8K pound winch will be fine. Just carry a snatch block in case you need more pulling power.

The "experts" say 1.5 times your weight.

No problem with an 8K winch. Snatch blocks double that. You're good to go with it!

Snatch blocks are good if you have enough line to use it. I've been nearly out of line when I got to a pull point, so a snatch block would be useless.

Buy as big as you can afford within reason. I've got a 10.5k and it barely pulled me out. I would have bought a 12k if I had the $$$.

Alright, I'll make sure I keep a snatch block with me. As far as going big, I was limited by size to no more than a 9,500 lbs winch per manufacturer suggestions. So, I have two 8,000 lbs smitty built winches. One on the front bumper and one on the rear bumper.

Wth did you get in? .... Maybe it was your battery or the winch you have draws big power bc I pulled a heavy ass H2 out of a mud pit burried to the doors. It pulled the front through the ground because of the angle I was at. I even had to chain myself to a tree! This was on a Warn 9.5XP!

Was stuck in clay up to the passenger door handles with my drivers side wheels barely stuck at all. Had to pull at a 30* angle to get out and on high ground. Pulling anything out of snow is a simple pull as there is no drag or suction from a snowbank.
