A buddy of mine just made a build up thread of his X, I thought it was a cool idea to have everything documented in one place so here is the life of my jeep thus far:

07 2dr Rubi, 6spd, hardtop only, pwr package, thats it as far as options go. Bought used at the beginning of the summer of 08 with 20 000kms on it (never offroaded, pretty much a brand new vehicle) I was originally looking for a TJ rubicon, yet fell in love driving the JK over the TJ, much more refined.

My first vehicle 2002 Dodge Dakota traded in for the jeep:

First Days with the jeep, at the beach in Vancouver:

First mods:
grill:

flowmaster exhaust (thread HERE

first time offroad in beautiful british columbia. I had no idea what I was doing in 4x4 situations but had fun nonetheless, dirt roads were still considered "offroading" to me:

I then had the jeep shipped to Ontario where I go to university and thats when I really caught the jeep fever. I met some great local guys through this forum who helped me enter the jeeping world. Before this point I had barely gone beyond turning a wrench so my mechanics stills were severely lacking. I ordered a KC lights for the windshield, TREKS (tntcustoms) front winch bumper, as well as a 2.5" TF coil lift w/shock extensions. I did the installs myself with the help of dyolfknip on the forum here.

Lifted!:

New bumper and winch:

with all my new goodies installed I felt like I had the coolest jeep in the world! I was then invited to join a bunch of the central canada JK'ers to go to East Coast JK Fest down in Rausch Creek, PA. Initially I wasn't going to go as I was pretty nervous and still have never really been "offroad" in the jeep. Eventually I decided mentioned the idea to my dad who said that sounds like a cool idea, maybe i'll fly out there and come with you. So sure enough he did and thus started my first real jeep experience.

Meeting all the central JK'ers for the first time, great bunch of guys

arriving at rausch creek!! Repping CANADA! very exciting!

Airing down my first tires

first "big" to me obstacle (pizza rock) I made it with some coxing from piginajeep

still to this date one of the scariest things i've done in the jeep, pics dont do the angles justice!

new jeepin buddies!

first flexing!

posing at the end of my first great weekend wheelin!

From then on I was hooked! I spent hours and hours looking at all the different things I could do to my jeep. From that trip I met some new lifelong friends and even one local guy (zebco99) who's family took me in as almost another kid so I had a bit of a home away from home while across the country at school.

Next big wheelin trip was into quebec, got to have some fun in the ice and snow and meet some of the quebec JK'ers, also a great bunch of guys.

Some more winter wheelin:

next mod - new rough country dual SS

After I learned that wrenching wasn't so hard I figured why not try my hand at welding as an auto club near by was hosting a welding workshop....thus started my first home made project....A lightbar! I'd always loved them on the older jeeps from when I was a kid so I wanted to make my jeep look as cool as all the older jeeps I once looked up to!

the lightbar:

test fitting:

around this same time was my next mod, AEV Ram Air Snorkel!
first cuts

finished:

all finished:

After that crazyness I felt bad for the jeep and I then decided it was time to make the jeep have the badass look to match the badass light bar and snorkle...that meant 35's 315/75R16 Toyo MT's on ATX artillery wheels.

From there it was back to spend a summer in Vancouver. I met a whole bunch of BC jeepers and spent my summer wheeling with them in the mountains. Mods during the summer included: a LOD rear bumper w/jerry cans, OME LT shocks, added 1" coil spacer in front and 1 3/4" in rear, Currie Front lower CA's, Superchip Flashpaq, benchmark dual battery's. Few pics from last summer:

Also, Bedlined my hinges:

unfortunately the last trip of that summer ended in disaster when I accidentally used the clutch while stuck in a mud hole...sure enough that was the end of my trip, had to be towed for a good 4 hrs out of the trail and then flatbedded 5hrs back to vancouver won't be doing that again....

with that fixed it was time to head back to school, this time I decided to drive all the way across the country, so a friend and I loaded up the jeep and began the week long trek.

Back in ontario it was time to do some more wheelin!

Soon enough it was time for East Coast JK Jam again, some new guys joined us on the trip and a great time was had by all once again. Hard to believe that only 1 year ago was my first time out wheeling!

My next welding project was some rock rails for the sides. I added tube and plate to the existing rubi rails and kinda modeled them after the PJ sliders.

also added EVO rockstars:

The next stage of the build was kind of unexpected, a friend (scbesse) jokingly said I should sell him my wheels/tires and upgrade to 37's....sure enough thats exactly what happened....

new Rugged Ridge wheels:

37" toyo MT's

Bushwacker Flat Fenders:

I also decided to ditch the LOD rear bumper and make a new one myself. I wanted something lighter weight and stubby in order to match the new flat fenders, so off came the rear bumper and I sold that to another friend (2summer).

So thats it for this jeeps life so far, currently sitting at home I have some 5.13 gears, R-SE outer axle sleeves, EVO C gussets and CA skids all waiting to be installed when I get a chance. Also, in the process of designing and building my new rear bumper. I will also be cutting off the hoop on my front bumper and adding some sort of stinger. Not sure on what the future plans may be but I will be sure to update this thread when something new comes up. I'm thinking possible EVO Coilovers but thats still to be determined

Thanks for reading!
