Default 08 jeep JK build thread

I created this thread to follow my build progression over the next year. If I by chance created this in the wrong section please post and move to correct section.

Little about my self, I am 29 and a first year Jeeper. Upon buying my first jeep I was a chevy man. I can say I right now I will never go back.

My plans for my jeep are pretty simple, I would like to make it trail worthy since I do the occasional off roading and hunt in some rugged areas of the country.

As of right now my jeep is stock... I hope with your help this will change very soon. I would like some suggestions on lift kits as my plan is to buy one in the next month. I have been eye ballin some kits but to be honest don't really know what I am looking at.

Any suggestions would be great...

I don't mind going larger then 3 inches, I dont have a great deal of money to spend but enough to make this a decent project.

I was looking at Tera flex... But cost wise I think their more money then say BDS or Full Traction. I would like to go 4 inches with either of those 3 kits. My max $ to spend on a kit is around 1400 or less on a kit. I was looking at the full traction premium/ ultimate 4 inch kit. What else would I be needing to replace with this kit?

I have about 4-5 k to really spend this year on my jeep. I am looking to put 35s, rims and a decent lift kit on to clear some nasty obstacles while traveling through the woods and mountians. Though out the year I will add skid plates and protection armor such as bumpers and rock sliders. I just want to get the most expensive stuff out of the way.

How difficult is it to install a lift kit? Could it be done by the avg guy?

If ur not building to do some big time wheelin I would go with a 3" or under like already said more then that means big bucks. Gears drivelines gussets. The list goes on with a 3" lift you can clear 35s but still would want to regear. Im going 3" with 33s so I don't have to spend any extra but I do have a strechd hi on 38s to wheel so my jk is just an everyday driver/river rig
