Once you get in the 3" range or greater you increase the CHANCES of driveshaft problems.. the auto's have problems at flex with the front driveshaft boot catching on the tranny.. The manual's have issues with the rear because of the increased driveshaft angle.. hope that makes sense
Doesnt mean that 3" is by all means the magic number.. it just increases your chances of problems as you go UP..
You can achieve very good gains by adding other things.. Body Lift, Taller Tires, Spacers to compensate for lost lift due to bumpers, winch, hard top, heavey tire on the back..
Example I gained 6" in front & 5" back over stock with 32's 3" from the lift, 1 1/2" from tires, 1 1/4" body lift 1/2" spacers..
BUT; still only have a 2.5 Coil lift..

Yes, there's no problem adding the BL prior to the suspension lift.
