Default 2011 Cherokee Steering Wheel in a 2011 Wrangler?

I've always loved the feel of a wood steering wheel and wood trim in a car. There hasn't really been any alternatives to the plain wrangler wheels (unless you get a nice old wooden CJ wheel with no airbag).

I noticed the new Cherokee wheel looks to be exactly the same as the wrangler...only a little upgraded. Is it probable that you could just buy this wheel from Chrysler and swap it out (airbag and all) into the new Wrangler?

I'd say it would be a direct swap.

If it was real wood I would agree, but I would take a nice leather wrapped over the plastic faux wood wheels anyday! It may say Real wood grain steering wheel, but it is a wood veneer under a plastic overlay.

And yes the wheels are a bolt on affair just be careful of the air bag!

If i'm correct you can probably get the steering wheel, without the airbag, then swap the air bag. Save on the price of the air bag. You got to be very careful with the airbag, it can deploy if you do not handle it right.

Anyway you do all of this, now you have a wood steering wheel. where is the matching wood, on the dash.

Is it worth it?

Sometimes wood all over the dash is a bit much in my opinion (plus the new 2011 doesn't really have any room for a dash insert like the previous models). I think just matching wood on the shifters would be enough to pull it together. For manual it would be easy enough to find something matching...but for auto maybe the custom route would have to be taken. Or maybe the Cherokee has more parts I could steal from it?

Thats not bad at all. I though it was some where along the lines of $300 - $500.

From what I can tell, the entire jeep line-up has the same brand steering wheel.

They all look to be interchangeable.

The wood one you shown likely has the heating option but it would take some creative thinking to get it hooked up.
