put the lift on. you will hate the way it looks so bad it will force you to buy tires before you can afford them. it's the way everyone does it.

I have 3" lift with stock tires until I absolutely need to change tires. If you are going to use the stock tires, I recommend you get spacers at least. That will really improve the drive and add look is much better
First Picture is with Spacers and third without.

.....this is the way things happen in the jeep world. i put the flat fenders on early so that my 33s looked too small. took a loss, sold them, upgraded to 35s.

I'm glad I stumbled across this thread. Here's my deal, the woman and I are towing our motorcycles to Florida in August...we were going to wait to put on the lift and wheels/tires until we got back. Obviously a JKU with 3:73 is going to get much worse performance and mileage while towing on 35's. It was a good plan, just wait and do it when we get back. Yeeeeeah, the wheels and tires have been sitting in the garage for less than 24 hours and she looks at me and says "Um...you wanna do the lift and tires before we go?" SO now I'm wondering do I do the 3'' lift and switch back to the stock rubber before the trip? I just don't want to look ridiculous with a lift and small tires.

well, if i did the lift kit myself, i would be a little skeptical as to if i did everything 100% correct. last thing you want before you go on a big trip is something getting messed up in your suspension. if your pulling something pretty heavy with some stock tires, i imagine your tail side will be pretty low and your front will be up in the air.
