That's what I figured. The JK sheet metal, especially th hood, is like a damn beer can!

Is the AEV one steel, or fiberglass, or what?

It's steel and I'm getting mine back from the paint shop tomorrow, so I'll be able to be included in this thread! Woohoo.

Somebody measure the temperature of your engine bay before and after the installation of one of these AEV hoods.

Hypothesis: People buy these hoods for the Hummer-esque bulge that's supposed to look menacing or something. The heat reduction aspect is just their excuse.

Question: Can you see the heat pouring out of the vents on a cold day? One website claims that it releases enough hot air that you could heat your lunch over it.

umm, I guess I got it to use the AEV snorkel without needing any permanent modifications done to my Jeep (ie cutting the stock hood up). I may be the only one using that sort of crazy thinking though.

Here's mine....Just picked it up from the paint shop so I will install when I get back in the country.

The front edge and buldge are real powder coating. The white around the edges is b/c they buffed it and I have to clean the excess out.

My RUBICON stickers have been cut and will be black with sand paper texture.

Also while I am in Europe...Anyone else interested in the foam piece in this picture??? I am picking up about 6 of them, they are for the diesel engine and I could not buy them at my dealer in CO.....They should force your JK to breath ONLY through the AEV hood vent. I am paying about $25 each for them.
