Before and after mild lift!
I had a large post here. But this is straying WAY off track. Think what you want about me, I've proved myself and my jeeps.
I stand by what i said. X's are nice, with the right options. But this guy is calling down rubicons with $300 in upgrades in his x. And he wanted to be part of the "imaginary" rubicon club, so he stuck a decal on there.
All's I did was call out a newbie jeep poser.

Rubicon decal from Quadratec: $24.99
Endless amusement from internet trolls: Priceless...
J/K#1 Just because I wear a red nose and white makeup does not make me a "clown", just a "poser". "Real" clowns who get their degrees at clown college and go through all that circus training will be really pissed off at you.

#2 All JKs, X's, Saharas, and Rubicons start out with the exact same frame, body, and engine, then they go off and get their axles and transfer cases which makes them different. Oh yeah, and the stickers.
#3 By your logic, buying a Rubicon is a must. An "X" model on 40" tires with some Dana 60's, an Atlas transfer case, and some mechanical lockers would never, ever out-wheel a stock Rubicon? Come on.... do a search of the forum or in your "Jeep Group" you "own". Mechanical lockers will always, always, always be more dependable than the e-lockers they put in the JK's. BTW, they offer them in the "X" but I didn't think they were worth $750.
#4 You don't know a thing about me but insist on name calling and you remind me of a 14 year old who used to troll the forum. Yes, when I lived in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, I had (gasp!) A/T tires. But now that I live in the boonies, I have proper 35" M/T tires (thank goodness). I know that all the people who have to climb mountains and drive through mud to commute to work everyday have to buy M/Ts. But some Jeeps are driven on "paved roads" certain days of the week. So I guess some Jeeps can have A/T tires without being ridiculed.
#5 My Jeep, like other non-millionaires on this forum has been growing as money and time allow. Now that I have a coil spring lift, 35" tires, and more underbody protection, I can out-wheel a stocker Rubicon in some situations, but not all. Eventually, when cash flow loosens up and the warranty expires, the axles/4.10 gears will be replaced and the mechanical lockers will be installed. Then it will truly be a Rubi-Killer.

#6 Yes, this "newbie poser" still has a lot to learn from you "Jeep-Group Owner-experts" since I have only owned a YJ, a TJ and this JK since 1994. In case you haven't noticed, I can be extremely sarcastic and really know that your opinion doesn't really matter about the Jeep I make the monthly payments on. I will still sleep soundly at night with my beautiful wife and family. Don't worry if I ever see you or any other Jeeper stuck in the woods, I will pull you out and would expect the same from every other true Jeeper.
So what was this thread about again?
Oh yeah, the Daystar BB was nice until I took it off.

You can put it anyway you want to, but pretending your jeep is something that its not is just wrong. You come on here bashing rubicons and saying their parts suck, so why in the world would you put the decal on there in the first place????

Nope, my logic is YOUR jeep will not out wheel MY stock rubicon. Tires, yup a/t's suck period. I drive 400+ kms a day with my m/t's soon to be tsl's. Lockers, Im taking a shot in the dark, but have you ever driven with lockers on 24/7? enjoy!

It is just a matter of ground clearance, 3" taller in the tires plus approximately 3" of lift will yield about 4.5" of additional underbody clearance. Yes there are limitations with open differentials, and lockers will give you more traction if the wheels slip. Also important to sucess at wheeling is a good line and a great spotter.
No one is bashing Rubicons, they are still the most capable factory built vehicle IMO, but Wranglers are made to be modified. As far as I can see in your pictures, it does appear you are stuck. M/T tires, lockers, and transfer cases can't override common sense.
Well, your logic is only correct in certain situations. The stock Rubicon with 32" tires and no lift will still get hung up on quite a few obstacles that an X with 35" tires and a lift can get over. I have wheeled with a few stock JK's to include Rubicons, and there were several situations that my Jeep could walk over certain obstacles that the stockers couldn't make.

AV3.5Inch...I have some racing stripes I could sell you. I hear they add about 5 horse power.
It's funny how off track these discussions get. Let's get further off track... (I'm bored
)
Real example:
There is a couple in my Jeep group that are some of the nicest, smartest people I know. But his Jeep, a TJ (X or Sport I forget) is lifted with 33's, has mechanical lockers, and some upgrades. Her Jeep, a TJ Rubicon, is stock. When they go on wheeling trips with the group, which do they bring?
Answer: His Jeep, and they wheel the hell out of it. The Rubicon has never left the pavement and she makes sure of it. I can't figure out this logic, but his Jeep is more capable than hers. I think hers may be newer and that's why it's a mall crawler.

Ok 35's and lift yes. But when the post started and the comment about "Rubi-Eater" was made I believe you were on 33" at's. But clearance is nothing when you have 2 wheels spinning and 2 are sitting there doing nothing. Lockers are the best investment someone could make, and why they would settle for mechanical lockers without having a choice to turn them off, i dont know.
In the pics, i was stuck (where buddy is hanging off the side). This was a clearance issue. But as soon as that other rear wheel touched I drove out.
But more to the point. The question still goes un-answered, why if you dont believe in rubicon lockers, t-cases, ect. would you put the badge on your rig?
