Big problem
driving home last night, was at a stop, lighted turned green, when i accelerated, for a split second there was a grind. i heard it and felt it in the gas pedal. thought it was wierd, so i stopped again, waited a sec, accelerated, and it happened again. did it four gimes b4 it wouldnt do it again..... ok soo found something else this morning..... went to wash off my jeep, and for what ever reason, gave it gas while it was in Park, floored it and it wouldnt go over 2grand. same thing in Neutral..... but climbed fine in gear. left it running while i washed it, tried it again, it was better but wouldnt climb over 4grand in neutral or park...... could this be something related to what i heard last night? anyone think they could TELL me what it might be? i just put my aev snorkel in yesterday too, wasnt having an issue b4 this

Been dealing with the grinding/vibrating noise for about a month now on my auto. Had it at the dealer and (as expected) couldn't replicate the sound while I was there.
It happens both in warm and cold temperatures with the jeep cold or warm. It does seem to happen less after extended periods of driving however. But when it does happen, it is only upon initial acceleration from a dead stop and only least a second or less.
My wife was with me yesterday and she swears its coming from the passenger side front. So far, the suggestions I had have included
1. Heat Shield - Dealer checked all of it and found one spot in the driver side back that was bent. they fixed it. Noise still there.
2. Catalytic Converter - Dealer checked it out and said all is well
3. Rocks/pebble stuck in the dust shield of the brakes - I have not removed my tires yet to check for this but was told that sound would be more constant...not sure if that is true
4. Broken axle shaft - OK, this may be a stretch but it was said to me so it always sticks in the back on my mind. I don't have the skill to check this myslef and the dealer wasn't about to rip my axle apart without hearing the noise first!
5. Driveshaft - again, dealer checked it out and it is fine
6. Muffler- I have a dent on my muffler on the left corner by the driver side bumper. I doubt this is it since the noise is coming from the complete opposite side of the Jeep.
7. Fluids - all my fluid levels check out fine with the exception of my front differential which was overfilled by me. That has since been corrected but the noise is still there.
Whatever the issue is, it is quite annoying since it sounds horrible when it happens but it can't always be reproduced. Other than this one issue, my Jeep is driving great so I am scared that Murphy's Law will kick in and my axle will fall off! LOL!!!
if you happen to find out what it is, please let me know! I am subscribed to your thread. And mine can be found here https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...l-acceleration

my main focus would be the wheel/tire/brake assembly. then the drivetrain, put jeep on a shop lift with wheels hanging. attempt to get that noise by recreating conditions, may take some time
