I had the Thule spare me rack but am changing over to a hitch up right mount soon as I find one in my price range. My tri back has to be worked a certain way to fit and the bikes do hit going down the road

Two Bike Hitch Mount Bike Rack

I upgraded all the hardware and use a handful of bungee cords. I have been using this about a year quite often and has not given me any issues. I use this for downhill bikes and on multiple times i have had 2 60+LB bikes on it on rough roads. No problems. Sure it isnt the nicest, but no stress on tailgate, can still open back no problem, clears a 35" tire, and gets you're bike from A-B.

Thanks. Might be the way I go. I like how it lets the bike down to get into the back if you needed too.

That's what I have too and I leave it on all the time. I put locktite on the carrier bolt to stop it from loosening up and rattling.

Does anybody know of a spare tire rack that will fit a 35" tire?

I tried 3 other cheaper ones before finally going out and getting a good one from a bike shop.
Swagman, 4 bike carrier, works great. Usually haul 2 bikes only but once in a while 3. The extra length is great 'just in case'. For BMX or the wife's bike which has an easy entry frame configuration we use a ubar adapter. it fits between and just under the seat and handle bar posts, allows for easier mounting to the rack. Lots of clearance, should take a 35".

I'm using the Saris Freedom rack. Looks like a hitch mount tray rack but mounts to the spare. Works great and never gets in the way when you need to get in the back.

I have the Thule Spare Me rack and it works great! I haven't had any issues with the bikes hitting or rubbing up against each other though and I've hauled them between California and Arizona - high wind and no wind.
