Default Build Thread: 2013 - JKUR - Slimer - SLC

Build Thread: 2013 - JKUR - Slimer - SLC

This is my build thread for my 2013 Jeep JK Unlimited Rubicon in Gecko-Green. I previously owned a 2008 Subaru STi in World Rally Blue and a 2006 Jeep TJ X 2 Door in Orange. Because I commute to work on the train and the GF commutes to work on her bike both vehicles hardly ever were driven. So I decided I'm going to consolidate vehicles from two to one. The Jeep was the more practicle of the two but wanted more room than the 2 door. So I came up with a plan to sell the Suby and the 2 door Jeep and buy a 4 door Jeep. I sold the Suby and will sell the 2 door Jeep after the build is done on the JKUR. I try not to think too much about selling the Suby, loved that car and the new JKUR helps keep my mind off of it.

I bought the JKUR in Detroit and drove it home to Salt Lake City. It was the best price on a JKUR in Gecko-Green with all of the features and low miles in the nation. Heated/Leather seats, automatic, 30 gig uConnect stereo with Bluetooth and sub, Mopar rubber floor mats.

No mods yet after having it home for a week but I've got big plans on building it up. Keep an eye on this thread for updates.

Here's a pic of the JKUR next to the TJ X 2 Dr. Stock height on the Ruby is the same as a TF Budget Boost and 32" BF Goodie KM2s on the TJ.

Congrats! I wish they had that color available for the 2014 models.
I had an STI in 2004, was an incredible car!

I added a new bike carrier this weekend. Its the Küat NV Bike Carrier. It carries two bikes and is expandable to four with a add-on (separate purchase). I like the brand better than the Yakima and Thule options. The Küat is designed with much much more than the other brands. Stronger and more option (work stand). It didn't quite fit with the stock Ruby spare on the door. I had to buy an extension which isn't "officially" recommended. But I called Küat and they informed me that other Jeep owners have had luck with the Extension 6000. I'm not sure how it's gonna fit with a much bigger spare on the rear door in the near future. I'm still trying out the extension, we'll see how it works.

Anyone else have other suggestions.

The lock pin is not in, this was just a fitting test.

There is still a lil' vertical wobble in the hitch extension. Anyone got any ideas on how to tighten that up?
