I'll answer my own ?, it may help others in the future. Yes, there is stuff directly behind the oem net panel, not enough room for the switches I was using. Yes, the Daystar switch panel comes blank w/o holes, but does have a very faint outline of the precast rectangle cutouts for the Daystar switches, not noticeable from a distance.
