What material is the best for this? And what are the adhesive tabs called? Did you use some type of glue on them (JB Weld Plastics)? I would imagine they would start to peel off after a while on the road.

Im looking at doing this myself sometime soon. So let me pick your brain for a minute. Why did you go with the gutter guard over a more stiff more "heavy duty" material? How much did this whole set up cost (I'm guessing under $50)? Is that material easy to paint? And last, Why did you do each one individual instead of one whole sheet and still attatch them in between pulling tight? Im in no way trying to second guess you, I'd just like to know if your way makes more sense.

I've always liked the look of the inserts, but I like to have my trans cooler getting the full flow of the stock openings. Has anyone actually calculated the reduction in free area?

I used the gutter guard for a few reasons.
1. it costs like $5.00 for a role that will do prob. 2 or 3 grills
2. I was going to paint the inserts and they come in black anyways
3. the plastic molds much easier than metal which would have to be perfectly cut.

It looks great and I am very happy with it, The whole setup cost $12 with a military discount at lowes. and that will do both mine and my brothers grill.

Highly recommended.

I cut them individually because the roll it comes in comes about 6 inches wide, It was more work than sheet metal but it was much cheaper and now I dont have to paint.

here are pictures of all the products used

Did the same with the metal gutter guards and used the recomended paint used on cooking grills. Works well and still holding up. I used some crazy glue on the back side of the squares. I would lay the squares out first and mark where you want them berfore just glueing and sticking trying to eye ball them straight.

I did lay them out first, They look off center because I lowered the middle three sections because I didn't have the room on the bottom to place any mounts because of the clamps where the grill attaches to the body of the jeep. I figured lowering them would hold better
