Thanks guys! I leave the front part on all the time. There is some wind noise from it, but not nearly as much as when I had a full rack on my TJ. The Yakima Dry Dock just mounts in the rear receiver hitch. I only put it on when I am going to carry the canoe. I will try to get some pictures of the back the next time I have it on. For the front mounts, the hinge bolts were long enough to use to hold it on. I did put some vinyl tape on the rack where it contacts the paint to prevent any scratching.

My canoe is a Bell Northstar.

Awesome job.

Any plans to make and sell the front rack?

I would for sure buy the front to fit an 08 rubicon 2 door.....yes, I am serious.

Then I would make my own rear up from the hitch.

[QUOTE=arjflyr;516110]I had a TopFive Rack on my TJ to carry my canoe, and intended to get another rack for my JK. But after looking at what is out there, and how much they cost, I decided to find another way to haul the canoe. I saw some of the other posts using the Yakima Dry Dock in the back. I liked the idea and just needed to figure out what to do about the front. After keeping an eye on Craigslist, I was able to pick up a new in box Dry Dock for $100. Taking a look at the way the cross bar mounted on the Dry Dock, I figured I could do the same thing up front. I picked up some 1" x 2" steel tube for under $10. Once I got them fit right, I found a place that powder coated them for $20. I already had the Yakima cross bars. It seem very stable, but I have only had it out to a few local lakes.

That is a great looking canoe rack. Having any issues since using it regularly ? What about the connections on the rack to the canoe ? Brand ? Work well on the highway ? Any scratching with the front mounts ?

Thanks !

There's no way that thing will float with a JK attached to it,...
