Turns out that I got both front and rear aftermarket bumpers for only paying $100 out of pocket
All in all make sure you look around for a body shop that is willing to put on the aftermarket bumpers and pay you back the difference that insurance is gonna cover. Plus you can most likely get a performance exhaust out of this!
Hope all goes well
I wish his truck was more messed up. Poor Jeep!! I know how you feel... 6 weeks after getting my JK I was rearended by some chick in a Lincoln Aviator. Took out my spare tire, the mount, a taillight, and the rear bumper. I think my tailgate might've been replaced too. All in all, it didn't look like too much damage but her Lincoln was seriously effed up!
Wow I find it funny that the so called heavy duty truck with the metal bumpers is the one that took on most of the damage. So now I see that our spare tires are put there as a cushion to protect us from idiot who rearend us.
UPDATE!!!
Had the adjuster come out and give me an estimate, did a horrible job (of course), so I called his supervisor and had someone else go out today and do another estimate.
THIS TIME, the new guy believes that there is frame damage and is most likely a total loss. So the shop will be putting the jeep on a jig and having some laser frame thingy give out some sort of reading???...
I spoke to the service manager, and he seemed very upset that the adjuster had came out and wanted to do an estimate. He (service manager) told me that he was in the middle of doing his supplements when the adjuster showed up. I feel like the service manager doesn't want to put the jeep on the jig, because he was saying how its a half day procedure...blah blah blah. And that he doesn't think there is frame damage.
But I can even see that the entire rear axle has been shoved in on the side of impact and is coming out the other side. The adjuster said that there a bunch of bolts on the right side that are all completely crooked and said the frame damage is in a "diamond shape", not entirely sure what that means.
Then the service manager went on to tell me not to get in touch with the adjuster and to just speak to him as the middle man. I didn't like that comment at all and it raises a few red flags for me.
Do you think the service manager is trying to screw me over so he can make some money out of this?
