Removing the hinges to replace with stainless or special coatings opens up a can of worms.
My dealer already has to remove the hinges to repaint them so it sounds like they are willing to do the removal then I can take the hinges to a third party to be powder coated. They will then reinstall no charge. It looks as though it will all work I just wanted to be sure Powder Coating would work. Thanks for your input . As for those covers I think they would prevent chipping but they would hold salt and crap in I would think.

The hinges are aluminum how about anodizing. i think thats more durable than poweder coating.

i also found these onlie but $137 for two doors and you would sttill need to get a finish put on them

I noticed my hinges today, and the rears have partially peeled and rusted!! My Jeep is 10 months old. I have a friend that does powder coating, I think a satin or semi-gloss black would look best. PC would be more durable than paint not to mention less costly to repair/redo if needed!!

I'm not the most informed on this issue however talking to a variety of people and professionals I think I am going to a stainless hinge, although it's not the look I wanted it sounds like it is far more durable. A local company here in winnipeg called the jeep Dr told me that the most you will get out of PC is a year or two then they chip. I was also told to smear the back side of the stainless hinge with grease when you install and it really helps to keep the rust at bay.

I got a quote today of 20 bucks to have mine powdercoated. I could swing that every year or two to have them redone. A textured satin black was recommended. This guy uses it on a lot of ATV wheels and stuff and says it holds up pretty well!!

The Line-x dealer in Winnipeg would not even look at my hinges so I guess I will be getting stainless.
