home built (sort of) off road chaser trailer
my challenge was to make something useful, functional, capable and cheap. It started from a kawasaki motorcycle trailer off craigslist for 200 bucks with 8" tires (gave those babies a 29" boost) got the coilovers from a trex off a desert race site for 200 and the tool box from my garage free. The hubs, bearings and spindles i ordered from pacific trailer in Montclair for 90 bucks. Another 100 bucks for hitches and pintle hook set up (HF). The rest came down to design and fab. I sold my 93 waverunner for some scratch to pay for that. Now I am trying to figure out what I want in/on it as far as bells and whistles.
so far it will have:
Solar panels
20# co2 tank
Spare jump battery
fold out table
Inverter
Air tools
hand tools
propane stove
lights for campsite
12v small powered cooler/heater
fuel (working out mounting solution)
water (working out mounting solution)
to be continued....... your ideas welcome

I'd say look over the chaser site for ideas. Personally I have never had an original thought
. The key is to see a good idea and shape it for your circumstance. Form follows function is the best rule for fab work.
Are you using the room between the box and fenders for storage of fuel cans, generator, batteries, etc.?
Your path of having a small portable workshop/camping outfit is perfect.

trailer empty about 600lb + and loaded with fuel water gear tools co2 prob another 400lb, no prob to tow even with 37's and no regearing. I have not been off road yet, I imagine I will be in 4 lo a lot if there are any inclines.
I have yet to come up with a fuel storage solution, I mean I have jerry cans and can always put them inside the front bow or strap them down on top, just not sure if I want to hard mount them to the outside anymore, it is getting pretty busy looking and will probably start to feel like I am pulling a kite soon.

added a rack in the back that holds fuel/water and trash bags or whatever and a hitch basket for additional storage of firewood water jugs etc.

....what is the approximate weight of this trailer....does it feel fairly light behind the JK? and I'm guessing loaded it would be 200-400lbs more?
