Default Home Made Rear Tub/Pinch Seam Covers

I made these steel covers to hide the ugly visible tub and seam on the rear of my Jeep after I took the bumper off. The steel I used isn't really thick enough to provide good protection for the exposed corners, but if I make them out of thicker metal and powder coated them, they'd do an okay job I reckon. As it is, I'm considering these to be a prototype of sorts - a test fit - until I can get hold of the tools to make tougher versions. I gave them a few coats of primer and flat black outdoor metal/plastic paint. They're bolted straight to the seams. They do a good job of cleaning up the aesthetics of the rear end. If you can find a suitable type of black plastic of the sort the OEM bumpers are made out of, I think that'd work quite well too.

In the future, if I can find a piece of steel long enough, it'll probably look good with a single piece wrapped all the way around the rear. I drilled the holes already, so I could update it later on.

Love this! I'm going to remove my rear bumper as well and this is a great solution to the unsightly lower tub, you should make a few more sets and sell em to me and others (to me for cheap...)

Jeep looks awesome!!

Some people are happy to just paint the tub; which also looks great. I just wanted to try something a bit different.
