JCR bumper
I was thinking about getting this bumper. For those of you who have ordered a bumper in raw steel, how hard was it to paint? Specifically, the backside...seems like it would be impossible to get good coverage and this would open the door to a rust problem. Any problems?
You will be able to get the same coverage as any other person or company painting it. If you want to do it yourself, we recommend using a good primer (not $2 a can stuff) and Rustoleum paint. Check out the textured black or any of the hammertone finishes. Those paints are very durable and look on on bumpers and armor!
Hey, thanks for the reply. Rustoleum is definitely what I'd go with. I've had very good luck with their products. My grill is done with the bedliner and the letters with satin black. I think a bumper in satin would really set the frontend off.
Again, thanks for the reply, you'll get my business in the near future. Theres nothing better than buying a quality American made product at a good price. And it doesn't hurt that its a killer design and looks great!

I had one of their bumpers for my xj and just (yesterday) got the mid width dagger bumper for the jk. I had no issues painting the one for the xj and it looked fine (and was really reliable and stout). Just make sure you prime appropriately and take your time and they come out great.
That said, I'm still "testing" on the skids first to make sure I haven't forgotten how to take my time

I've painted a few items.. The best thing I've found is to hang it up and spray it. Let it dry. Hang it up again, but change hanging points and paint again. I usually sand, prime, sand, prime, paint, paint, and then paint again. The textured finishes rustoleum has are my favorite.. No problems with my finishes so far. Lightly misting is the key.. To no runs and the best finish!!! Good luck
