JK with Rancho 3" Drop Down Kit
 

I've been a Jeep owner since I was 15 years old. Started out with a CJ-8 (Scrambler) then a CJ-5, CJ-7, YJ, ZJ, XJ, TJ, and now this JK. Bought the loaded up Rubicon edition so I did not have to mess around with axle swaps, gears, lockers, etc.

My Jeep did not have 85 miles on it before I was looking to rip into the suspension and add a few inches to it to allow 35" tires. I went to SEMA this year, as I have been going for the past 18 years, looking for the best suspension for my new JK.

Took a look at everyones kit and felt that the Rancho Long Arm kit was the best engineered kit out there. The only problem at this time is that it was built around the X series JK not the Rubicon. So while I wait for that kit to be ready, the guys at Rancho told me that they have a great drop down kit that will hold me over in the mean time until the long arm kit is shipping (February).

The Rancho kit allowed me to put on 35" Pro Comp Mud Terrains with one of their new styles of Pro Comp wheels in a 17x8 size. Although I would love to have true bead locks, I still do not trust them on the road due to a past accident that I won't go into.

If anyone out there is looking for a good economical 3" kit for their JK, I can first hand give the nod to the Rancho kit.

Hey ryan2915, I'm glad to see you posting on our forum and I honestly love the work you do but... aren't you the one responsible for all of Rancho's graphics? I mean, you make it sound like you just happend to come across the Rancho display at SEMA and just happend to decide that it was the best kit for you. :nono:

Now, I'm not trying to say that you're being put up to say what you've said about the Rancho kit, but I do want to make sure people know who you are and where you're coming from to qualify your statements.

Are you a professional photographer. Whats with the professional studio pictures. Are you sure that is really your jeep and not rancho's

you have admit, that was a good sales pitch.

It's scary to hear that Rancho engineers think a JK suspension that works on an X or Sahara won't work on a Rubicon. Almost as scary as their long arm kit. Look closely at the under vehicle photos in Project JK that Eddie took at SEMA and see for yourself.

They said they can control rear pinion movement by limiting travel. Duh. EVERYONE else's offerings are better than Rancho's. What's even more amazing is that Rancho is usually the company that has suspensions that, while they may not be flashy, work very well. Not this time.

The long arm kit that Rancho had at SEMA isn't the 3" drop bracket kit that started this thread. Is a drop bracket kit needed for 3" on JKs? The stock arms are fairly long and the geometry isn't bad with only 3" of lift.
