according to central 4 wheel drive that lift is also NOT for a Rubi....

and yea rancho seems to be the only one that says there lifts are model specific, what the heck is with that ? I'm with 2k2 what do they think is the big diff ? makes me NOT want to buy a kit that they THINK is only good for one model and not the other.....

the rancho 3" kit seems to be the most expensive 3" kit out on the market...

since it is your jeep can you go out and snap some pics of the brackets I'd like to see how they mount up ?? oh yea the pics don't have to be all that prety like your first pics.

I don't work for Rancho, although I do work with them, as I also work for several others out there in the automotive industry as a photographer and graphic designer. If that makes me bias on my selections in your mind, then so be it.

No that is not Rancho's company vehicle (silver one), they have a black one that you have all seen in the SEMA images. So with that being said, I do have opportunities to use any lift that I choose for my personal Jeep, and did go to SEMA looking for the best kit, and truly think that their long arm kit is just that.

Everyone has their own opinion on what kit, accessory, or product is the best for them. Just because I work in the industry and might work with some of these companies does not mean that I (like you all) can not have my own opinion. If you don't like my picks, then post your own thread/blog and tell others what you like. After working with Rancho on several different projects, I truly feel that they have the best engineered kit for the JK. MY OPINION...

Sorry DHOFFROAD, forgot to attach images. And yes, they are all pretty because that is what I do.

Oh yea, for those of you that have not installed a kit on a JK before, there are slight differences in the non Rubicon JK's compared to the Rubicon edition. I did a step by step install photo shoot on my JK at Rancho where they showed me the difference from their JK (non rubicon) to mine. For those companies out there telling you that their kits work on all JK models, I would be very hesitant. Do your home work before just slapping on any kit available on the market today.

As awesome as it would look on mine, I don't see the point of doing it to a 4x2.

It IS fun to think about...

As I said before, I just wanted people to know that you do in fact have an affilation with Rancho so that they can qualify your statements. :)

Fair enough - please tell us why. I am sincerely interested to here your opinion as to what makes their kit the best. I would be grateful if you could please be specific.

Other than the e-disco on the Rubicon, could you please be more specific as to what these slight differences are and why we should be hesitant to slap on any kit available on the market today?

Again, I don't work for Rancho so I'm not going to try to explain all the differences. I suggest you call their tech line. From what I saw doing the photo step by step on it, The electronic disconnect was a big part of the difference. Can't just put a spacer block on e-disco assembly, steering and frame components get in the way.

Ummm, spacer block on the e-disco assembly? What in the world are you talking about?

Like one of your other members posted in a different section, Rubicon's are very hard to come by in California. If you did not know most of the manufacturers are located in CA that are making these kits. A few were lucky enough to get Jeep from Chrysler to build for SEMA, even then, most were not Rubicons. So, testing on these kits have been limited. Most were built weeks before SEMA and are still in testing, testing not done on all models. Long story short, if you own a Rubicon, make sure you call the tech line of the manufacturer of the kit you are interested in to see if they actually tested their kit on the Rubicon model specifically. If not, your install shop (or you) might run into problems when putting the kits on.
Sorry, but I have personally installed a 3" lift kit on a Rubicon in Southern California (see write-up here: Full Traction 3" JK Lift Installation Write-Up) and quite frankly, you have no idea what you're talking about. The only thing I've been seeing you do here is pimp Rancho's lift kit on the backs of other manufacturers. And, for the record, Full Traction did test their lift on a Rubicon prior to selling it. In fact, you can see it in the current issue of 4Wheel Drive and Sport Utility Mag on page 56 and it was on display at the Off Road Expo back in October. :naw:

When Rancho installed mine, we were lucky enough that they have a full fab shop there that was able to adapt to the differences, bang out an extended sway bar link in minutes that looked and functioned like it came off the assembly line, yet workes with this new 3" kit.
In other words, they gave you the kit? And, are we still supposed to somehow believe your opinion on this lift kit is unbiased?

I'm not trying to sell anyone on this kit.
Really? You could have fooled me and that's the truth.

I thought the idea of a forum was to inform members of what is out there and what my thoughts are on certain items.
"Inform members"? Please refresh my memory... when have you informed us about anything other than the Rancho lift being the best kit out there and that we should all be hesitant about the competition without giving any, and I mean ANY specifics? And, if you really did come here to "inform" us, why would we need to call a tech line? :naw:

If I'm wrong, then this will be my last post/thread. :naw:
I don't know if I'd say you were exactly wrong, but I would say you didn't do what you said you were doing here. But, it's your choice as to whether or not you post here again. Certainly, no one I know has asked you to leave.

Good luck to all of you. Hope to see you out on the trail some time.
Well, if this really is good bye, good luck to you too.

The ONLY suspension-related difference on a Rubicon is the swaybar disconnect. Extended links will work here, just like they do for all the other JKs. You could argue that spring rates are different, but Jeep has many spring rates for the JK and JK Unlimited running through the whole range, and every manufacturer is dealing with that.

Opinions are fine and welcome. Taking shots at other manufacturers is BS.
