I'll have to go take a look at the EXACT model, but it is an Optima DLP projector. It's an older one, so only has 1080i but I don't even run it that high and it looks good

Now just get an Ultra Short Throw Projector (that can sit just a few feet behind your screen) and use a rear projection screen and your projector, screen and dvd player can all sit on the roof of the Jeep behind the screen. That way no worries of people walking between the projector and the screen.

Very nice setup! That's my idea of 'roughing it'

Here it's just sitting on my home sidewalk, but I have a fold out table for camping trips that I'll be using to put it on.

That's impressive. Very nice work and way to go on the ingenuity.

Fish had an Idea to have a night run and show halloween movies this weekend... I think I am leaning in that direction now. Cold dark forest and a screening of friday the 13th or something Maybe something a little more modern such as 28 days later....

They also make mirror mounts that allow you to do the same thing with a standard projector, but they are big. A custom folding one could be fabbed up I bet.

Very cool. You might want to use an ipod as the movie source instead of the dvd player. It's smaller, you don't have to worry about scratching discs, and the battery life is likely to be much better (translates to you don't have to rely on the JK's power as much.) Plus you could get your groove on with a bunch of downloaded music videos.
